Terms of Service

The Sub Space Boutique

Effective Date: April 29, 2026

Welcome to The Sub Space Boutique.

These Terms of Service govern your use of thesubspaceboutique.com, your purchase of products, your submission of custom commission requests, and your interaction with The Sub Space Boutique.

By visiting the website, placing an order, submitting a Build Record, purchasing a finished Ledger piece, purchasing provisions, or communicating with the House, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the website or place an order.

1. The House Standard

The Sub Space Boutique is not a novelty shop.

We craft heirloom-grade discipline tools, limited works, provisions, and related lifestyle accessories for adults who understand intentional structure, consent, care, and responsibility.

Our work is built around craftsmanship, material integrity, ritual discipline, and controlled bench capacity.

We reserve the right to refuse any order, commission, request, design, message, or interaction that violates our standards, creates safety concerns, exceeds the scope of the House, or conflicts with these Terms.

2. Adult Use Only

This website is intended for adults only.

By using this website, submitting a Build Record, or placing an order, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old or the age of majority required in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher.

The Sub Space Boutique does not sell to minors.

We may refuse or cancel any order if we believe the purchaser is underage, misrepresenting their identity, or using the website in a way that conflicts with the adult-only nature of the House.

3. Consent and Safety

All tools, writings, educational materials, and commission systems offered by The Sub Space Boutique are intended for consensual adult use only.

By purchasing from or interacting with the House, you agree that:

  • You are responsible for lawful, consensual, and informed use of any item purchased.
  • You will not use any tool for abuse, coercion, assault, threat, intimidation, unlawful conduct, or non-consensual activity.
  • You understand that discipline tools require judgment, restraint, care, and responsibility.
  • You accept responsibility for learning safe handling, aftercare, communication, and storage practices.
  • You will follow all applicable laws in your jurisdiction.

The Sub Space Boutique is not responsible for misuse, unsafe use, unlawful use, unauthorized modification, improper storage, or use outside the intended scope of the item.

4. Custom Commissions

Custom commissions are submitted through a Build Record, Tool Builder, approved inquiry path, or other House-approved method.

A custom commission may include, but is not limited to:

  • Full paddles
  • Slim paddles
  • Half paddles
  • Consequence canes
  • Course Correction canes
  • Custom wood selection
  • Handle wrapping
  • Engraving
  • Fractal work
  • Finish oil selection
  • Edge treatment
  • Custom notes
  • House-level design direction

Custom commissions require payment of the Full Build Price at the time of submission.

This payment is not a deposit. It is the full commission payment required to submit the Build Record, reserve the commission path, begin House Review, and prepare the work for possible Bench Release.

5. House Review

After a custom Build Record is submitted and paid, the House may review the commission for:

  • Build clarity
  • Material compatibility
  • Tool suitability
  • Safety concerns
  • Legal concerns
  • Scope control
  • Engraving suitability
  • Bench capacity
  • Conflicts with House Terms
  • Requests outside the standard of the Boutique

House Review does not guarantee acceptance into bench work.

The House may refuse, cancel, revise, or request clarification on any commission before Bench Release.

If a paid commission is refused by the House before material acquisition, design preparation, or bench work begins, the client may receive a refund according to the Return & Refund Policy.

6. Bench Release

A commission enters active production only after Bench Release.

Bench Release may occur after:

  • Build Record submission
  • Full Build Price payment
  • House Terms acceptance
  • Consent & Safety acceptance
  • House Review
  • Scope confirmation
  • Material compatibility review
  • Internal bench scheduling

Once a commission is released to bench work, material acquisition begins, wood is cut, design preparation begins, or client-specific labor begins, the Paid Commission becomes non-refundable except where required by law or expressly approved by the House.

7. Payment

All prices are listed in U.S. dollars unless otherwise stated.

Payment is processed through Shopify checkout and approved payment providers.

For custom commissions, the Full Build Price is due at the time the Build Record is submitted.

The Sub Space Boutique may update prices, availability, product details, shipping rates, and commission structures at any time.

A price displayed in error may be corrected. If an order is affected by a clear pricing or technical error, the House may cancel the order and issue a refund.

8. Product Availability

The Sub Space Boutique operates with limited bench capacity.

Products, commissions, Ledger pieces, provisions, and openings may be limited, paused, revised, removed, or sold out at any time.

We do not guarantee that any specific wood species, finish, handle material, engraving option, cane type, paddle type, or provision will remain available.

Natural materials may vary in grain, color, density, figure, tone, and finish response.

9. Finished Ledger Pieces

Finished Ledger pieces are completed works offered as-is.

Each Ledger piece may vary in natural grain, finish depth, burn pattern, engraving character, tool weight, and handmade detail.

Ledger pieces are final-sale items unless the wrong item is sent, the item arrives damaged, or otherwise required by law.

10. Provisions and Care Goods

Provisions and care goods may include finish-related products, care items, or related accessories.

Unused and unopened provisions may be eligible for return according to the Return & Refund Policy.

Opened, used, altered, damaged, or unsealed provisions may be refused for return.

11. Engraving, Artwork, and Client-Submitted Materials

If you submit engraving text, artwork, design references, images, links, phrases, names, symbols, or other materials, you confirm that:

  • You have the legal right to submit them.
  • They do not infringe another person’s rights.
  • They are not unlawful.
  • They are not abusive, exploitative, or unsafe.
  • They do not contain prohibited content.
  • They are suitable for review by the House.

The Sub Space Boutique may refuse any engraving, design, phrase, symbol, reference, or artwork that conflicts with House standards, legal obligations, safety expectations, production limits, or brand scope.

The House may require cleaner source files, adjusted placement, simplified design, or revised scope before production.

12. Proofs, Approvals, and Build Changes

Some commissions may require proofing, render review, engraving review, or House-level confirmation before production.

Client approval may be required for certain engraving or artwork-based work.

Once production begins, changes may be refused.

Approved changes may require:

  • Additional payment
  • Revised build notes
  • Revised timeline
  • Revised proofing
  • Material review
  • Production reset

The House is not required to accept late changes that would compromise the tool, delay the bench, disrupt production, or alter the original commission beyond reasonable scope.

13. Shipping and Delivery

Shipping times vary based on product type, commission complexity, bench capacity, material availability, carrier performance, and destination.

The Sub Space Boutique will make reasonable efforts to ship within the timeframe stated on the product page, commission page, checkout, or direct communication.

If no shipping timeframe is stated, fulfillment will follow applicable mail-order and internet-order standards.

Once an order is transferred to the carrier, the House is not responsible for carrier delay, failed delivery attempts, weather delay, routing delay, theft after delivery confirmation, or incorrect addresses entered by the client.

The client is responsible for providing a correct and deliverable shipping address.

14. Returns, Refunds, and Cancellations

Returns, refunds, and cancellations are governed by the Return & Refund Policy.

By purchasing from The Sub Space Boutique, you agree that:

  • Custom commissions are not ordinary retail goods.
  • Custom work may become non-refundable once client-specific work begins.
  • Finished Ledger pieces are generally final sale.
  • Used discipline tools cannot be returned for hygiene, safety, and integrity reasons.
  • Provisions may be returnable only if unused, unopened, and approved under the Return & Refund Policy.
  • Shipping fees may be non-refundable unless required by law or caused by House error.

The posted Return & Refund Policy controls refund eligibility.

15. Care, Storage, and Maintenance

Wood, leather, finish oils, wraps, engravings, and handmade tool components require proper care.

You are responsible for:

  • Proper storage
  • Avoiding excess moisture
  • Avoiding excessive heat
  • Avoiding prolonged direct sunlight
  • Avoiding harsh chemicals
  • Following care instructions
  • Inspecting tools before use
  • Discontinuing use if damage appears

The Sub Space Boutique is not responsible for damage caused by misuse, neglect, unsafe storage, improper cleaning, unauthorized modification, or use beyond the intended scope of the item.

16. Educational Content

Any educational, descriptive, or instructional content provided by The Sub Space Boutique is for general information only.

It is not medical advice, legal advice, psychological advice, relationship counseling, or safety certification.

You are responsible for your own conduct, consent practices, communication, risk awareness, and compliance with applicable laws.

24. No Warranty Beyond Stated Terms

Products are provided as described and subject to handmade variation.

The Sub Space Boutique does not guarantee that any product will meet unstated expectations, personal preferences, or uses outside its intended scope.

Any express warranty must be stated in writing by the House.

Natural wood variation, grain pattern, color difference, density variation, handmade finish marks, and minor visual differences are not defects.
